UPLOADING RESULTS FOR 'COMRADES CENTENARY HOPE CHALLENGE'
Runners all over the world will be joining in the celebratory spirit of the Comrades Marathon Centenary via the Comrades Marathon Association’s (CMA) 2nd virtual event tomorrow (Sunday, 13 June 2021).
The Comrades Centenary Hope Challenge can be run from any time between 00:01am and 23:59pm within the participant’s local time zone globally.
Participants can choose any of 5 distances – a 5km, 10km, 21.1km, 45km or 90km which will all be run virtually, meaning that athletes get to run their own race, along their chosen route anywhere in the world.
Runners who have already entered the challenge, can upload their results via any of the options below:
Option 1 – Using the SportSplits Tracker app
Use this option if you want to use the SportSplits Tracker app and your phone while you run.
Step 1: Download the Tracker App
Step 2: Claim your profile
Step 3: Make sure your power saving settings are set correctly
Step 3: On Challenge day hit the start button and the app takes care of the rest

Option 2 – Using a smartwatch or fitness tracker
Step 1: Download the SportSplits Tracker App
Step 2: Claim your profile
Step 3: After your run, upload your run to Strava
Step 4: Open the SportSplits Tracker app.
Step 5: Tap on the profile icon in the top right hand corner.
Step 6: Tap the Import from Strava button and follow the prompts.
The app will then import your route and splits and post your result automatically.
Option 3 – Manual upload
Step 1: Go to www.comrades.com
Step 2: Click on the Submit Your Time icon
Step 3: Search for your name
Step 4: Click on the Submit Time link next to your name and manually upload your challenge time
The campaign slogan for this year’s event is ‘Ithemba – Hope Is’, which aims to contextualise each runner’s hopes, what the feeling means to them and to further inspire other athletes to dig deep and discover their own hopes and dreams for a better future and the new normal in a world ravaged by Covid-19.
All that participants need to do is go to the official Comrades Marathon website; register for the Comrades Centenary Hope Challenge; select their distance; support their Comrades Marathon Official Charity if they so wish and make payment.
Once registration is complete, runners will receive all vital race information prior to the race.
Challenge Bibs will be emailed to each entrant on completion of entry. Alternatively, if you have not received your bib, please go to the start list at www.comrades.com and print out your bib. Entrants are encouraged to print out the Challenge Bibs and attach it to their running kit on Challenge Day.
Participants are encouraged to take images and videos wearing their Challenge Bibs or to participate with placards displaying their #HopeIs messages. Posts should include the official hashtags: #Ithemba #HopeIs #ComradesCentenaryHopeChallenge
All finishers will also receive an online finisher’s certificate once they have finished their challenge distance which they will be able to share with all family and friends.
