General Questions

Can my entry be substituted?

The Comrades Marathon Association will accept substitutions for the 2024 Comrades Marathon during the substitution window period of 15 March  – 15 April 2024.

How it works:

Entrants who have successfully entered the 2024 Comrades Marathon will have the opportunity to withdraw from the race during the period of 15 - 29 March 2024.

Entry slots that have been made available by withdrawing entrants will then be made available on a first come first served basis to individuals wanting to enter the event via the online substitution entry period of 1 – 15 April 2024. The substitution entry fee will be the same as per the 2024 entry fees.

No late substitutions will be accepted.

Entrants who have successfully substituted out their entries will NOT be allowed to reinstate their original entries.

An admin fee of 15% of the original entry fee will be deducted by the CMA from the withdrawing athlete. The CMA will then refund 85% of the original entry fee to all withdrawing athletes who have been successfully substituted.

There will be no money or voucher exchange between athletes.

Substitution withdrawals will only be available to fully paid entrants.
