MY COMRADES STORY BY CLINT LANGSON
“Comrades 2023 marked my first foray into the world of competitive running and it was an experience that surpassed all expectations. What initially began as a mere joke among friends quickly transformed into something much more significant.
Despite my limited preparation and multiple failed attempts to qualify, I remained determined to participate. It was my sister's unwavering support and encouragement that ultimately propelled me to take that leap and pursue my dream.
Tragically, just after completing the race, my sister passed away in July 2023. The loss of such a profound source of inspiration left a void in my life but it also ignited a fire within me to honour her memory and triumph over the challenges I faced.
As I look ahead to Comrades 2024, I am more motivated than ever to make a powerful comeback. My sister's unwavering belief in me has become a driving force behind my pursuit of success in the next race.
Her presence may no longer be physical, but her spirit and encouragement continue to resonate within me, pushing me to new heights. I am fuelled by the memory of her unwavering support and it serves as a constant reminder of the incredible strength and resilience the human spirit possesses.
Comrades 2024 will be more than just a race for me. It will be a testament to my sister's indomitable spirit and a reflection of the immeasurable impact she had on my life.
I will carry her memory with me every step of the way, drawing upon her strength and love to power through any obstacles that come my way. As I prepare for Comrades 2024, I am committed to pushing my limits and giving every ounce of my effort to honour my sister's memory.
I am driven by a deep sense of purpose and a desire to prove to myself and the world that I am capable of achieving greatness. I will not allow adversity to hold me back or hinder my progress.
No matter how challenging the journey may be, I am determined to return to Comrades with a renewed sense of determination and a desire to make my mark.
After all, this is not just any race – it is a journey, a pilgrimage and a testament to one’s faith and determination. It is The Ultimate Human Race!”
